Hello
I’ve loved painting for as long as I can remember—especially watercolor. My artistic journey started as a child, when drawing on the walls seemed like a perfectly good idea! I graduated from decorating the walls to cutting up all of my mom’s magazines and doodling on anything I could find. What started as a childhood obsession eventually grew into the career I had always dreamed of. Life has a funny way of taking us down unexpected paths, but somehow, painting and teaching have always been a huge part of who I am. Sharing the joy of creating with others has become one of the most rewarding parts of my life. And when I’m not painting, you’ll often find me sailing with my husband. Art and sailing make a pretty great team—one fills my creative soul, and the other gives me the freedom to get out on the water and enjoy the view!
My Story
My artistic journey began with a career in graphic design, which eventually grew into a love of fine art. Over the years, I’ve explored acrylics, pastels, and, of course, my true love—watercolor. My background in graphic design continues to influence the way I paint, giving me a unique perspective that blends design, composition, and color with the freedom and expression of painting.
At one point in my career, I was fortunate to be the co-owner of The Art Room in Little Silver, a wonderful creative space where children and adults could explore different artistic mediums. That experience deepened my love of teaching and sharing the creative process with others.
Today, I’m excited to continue that journey by teaching watercolor classes and workshops throughout the area. I currently teach through the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, the Monmouth Park System, and Wayfinder Art Studio in Belmar, as well as offering workshops throughout the year, including painting sessions at Sandy Hook.
My classes focus on building a strong foundation in watercolor techniques, including layering, wet-on-wet blending, color mixing, and creating texture. But for me, teaching is about much more than technique. I want my students to feel comfortable experimenting, gain confidence in their abilities, and most importantly, discover the joy, freedom, and sometimes happy surprises that make watercolor so much fun!
